A new school year brings new classes, plans, and routines. After the summer break, school life gradually picks up pace, with academic projects, competitions, and extracurricular activities getting underway. Here's what made September memorable for our scholars at The Island School.

Academics, Projects, and Olympiads

• E-track launched in September, giving students another opportunity to develop their own ideas and work on projects.

• Every Monday, students attend competitive programming classes run by JetBrains. On Saturdays, they continue exploring machine learning in an ML club led by TLF teacher Sergey Shashkov.

• The school held its first Olympiad selection rounds. More preparation lies ahead, along with opportunities to participate in international competitions.

• September was also a busy month for graduating students. On September 19, final-year students took the IELTS exam, with almost all achieving scores between 7.0 and 8.0. Congratulations on these results! They are now preparing for the SAT and working on their university application essays.

Life Beyond the Classroom

At the boarding house, students are settling into their new surroundings and discovering ways to spend their free time. After classes, they work out at the gym, play volleyball, head to the beach, and try water sports. In September, they also took up rowing and have already formed their own team.

For some scholars, September marked the beginning of life in a new country. Malika Khojamuratova, who joined Grade 11 this year, shared her experience:

“I really love our boarding house — our volleyball games after a long school day, the dinners where we stay a little longer just to talk to each other, and our boarding staff, who make sure we feel at home and always know we're welcome.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to be surrounded by such wonderful people.”
