Autumn Break at The Island: Trips, Team Adventures and Halloween for TLF Scholars

During the autumn and spring breaks, some Technology Leaders of the Future scholars head home to spend time with their families. Others choose to stay in boarding, where there is plenty to do even during the holidays.

The autumn break for TLF scholars at The Island Private School in Cyprus showed just how much can fit into a week: exploring new places, getting creative, cooking something delicious and spending time with friends.

Exploring the island and walking 10,000 steps in a day

One highlight of the programme was a trip to Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. The students had a chance to walk around the city and discover its sights.

Another destination was Kolossi Castle, a medieval fortress near Limassol. Excursions like these offer a chance to explore the island beyond familiar routes and learn more about its history.

The outings went beyond sightseeing. On one trip, the scholars took on a team challenge: walking 10,000 steps around the city together and taking creative photographs along the way.

It combined a walk, a little friendly competition and a chance to see familiar city streets from a new perspective.

Creativity and preparations for Halloween

Between trips, the students spent time at the boarding house, where there were plenty of activities too.

They baked banana bread and chocolate chip cookies together, joined a creative workshop and prepared for Halloween by designing and making decorations.

The Halloween celebration itself became one of the most memorable events of the break, with students helping to organise it. TLF scholar Taisia Sidorova shared her experience:

“The Halloween celebration was the highlight for me! It was really fun and interesting, and the boarding students came up with different team activities. I also enjoyed spending the break in Cyprus because we visited so many beautiful places around the island.”

Time for their own projects

Alongside trips and time with friends, the autumn break also included Entrepreneurship Spark, an intensive entrepreneurship programme where TLF scholars work on their own projects.

At the start of the break, a two-day session took place for students at H-FARM International School in Italy. Entrepreneurship Spark then began for scholars at The Island Private School in Cyprus.
