A New Home for TLF Scholars in Limassol
This academic year, TLF scholars from The Island Private School moved into a new boarding house in central Limassol. It is about a seven-minute walk from the sea, with a park nearby, giving students the opportunity to explore the city and spend time outside the boarding house. Students can leave the boarding house with prior permission.
The new space includes different areas for studying, relaxing and socialising. On the first floor, there are two common rooms: one designed for quiet study and independent work, and another for socialising and more active activities.
TLF scholar Yulia Balabanova shares:
“What I like most about the boarding house are the common spaces, where we can get together in a larger group, work on problems, play board games and simply talk. I also like that we have our own sports area and a swimming pool.”
Learning and Activities
The boarding house is first and foremost a place for students to live and relax, but they can also take part in additional activities if they wish.
One of the first activities to start was a Machine Learning club, held every Saturday by TLF Computer Science teacher Sergey Shashkov at the boarding house.
During their first week after moving in, the scholars also took part in an interactive workshop. They learned more about the plans for the space and shared their ideas about what areas and facilities they would like to see in the boarding house.
Exploring Limassol and Cyprus
Life at the boarding house is not limited to studying and relaxing. The boarding team is planning excursions around Limassol and trips across Cyprus, giving students opportunities to learn more about the city and the island.
For the new scholars, it is also a chance to gradually settle into their new country and make the boarding house part of their everyday life.
